Country & territory guide

Compare schools across Armenia.

Armenia’s selected collection requires an early distinction between Yerevan day-school pathways and residential senior study in Dilijan. French approved classes, American/AP provision and integrated Armenian/IB programmes have different language and admissions questions. UWC Dilijan’s published next-intake information concerns August 2027; it should not be treated as a current place offer.

Planning a school search in Armenia

Compare Yerevan’s language and programme sequences

Shirakatsy describes primary education integrating the Armenian state programme with PYP, ending with the Grade 4 exhibition. Its middle-school programme begins in Grade 5 and continues through Grade 10, integrating Armenian education and MYP. A transfer should therefore map the pupil’s completed language and subject work to the actual receiving class. Ask which teaching languages, assessments and national requirements apply to the offered route; an IB label alone does not remove local curriculum study.

QSI Yerevan’s school profile describes an English-language American curriculum, while its AP page places advanced courses in Secondary II–IV and distinguishes onsite teaching from virtual-school options. Compare the full school graduation plan with any proposed AP courses, rather than treating AP as an entire curriculum. The AEFE record for Lycée Anatole France lists approved French classes from Petite section through Terminale, but marks Toute petite section as not approved. Check the named class and French-language support before assuming every preschool provision has the same status.

Separate a Yerevan Diploma from residential Dilijan study

Shirakatsy’s admissions page states that its Diploma is offered to Armenian citizens only alongside the Armenian national curriculum. This is the named school’s published programme arrangement, not a countrywide rule for all IB applicants. Ask how the combined timetable, examinations and school certificates would work for the child, and which admission round applies. Confirm individual nationality, prior-school and support questions with the admissions team rather than inferring acceptance from a general programme page.

UWC Dilijan offers a two-year senior Diploma experience in a residential setting. Its campus page describes shared residences and staff support, which creates a different family decision from a day-school place in Yerevan. Ask about residential routines, pastoral support, holidays, travel and the student’s readiness to live away from home. Do not add younger phases to a college entry because other selected Armenian schools offer primary or middle education.

Use the published intake period rather than old assumptions

UWC Dilijan’s current application page invites interest in August 2027 Grade 11 entry and specifies applicants aged 16 or 17 on 1 September 2027. It distinguishes National Committee selection for applicants seeking financial assistance from Global Selection for those not requiring it. The same page states that applicants must choose one route for a school year. Confirm the relevant committee or direct selection cycle, documentation and school-choice process; registering interest does not guarantee selection or assistance.

Shirakatsy’s page says its ordinary primary applications for 2026–27 closed on 15 March, while describing separate vacancy-dependent processes for other grades and applicant categories. Ask for the exact intended-year route and current places rather than treating that closed window as a deadline for every phase. Compare written offers and support plans with QSI or the French school. For Dilijan, request a current explanation of residential costs and any assessed assistance, without assuming that a scholarship or a quoted day-school fee covers the same items.

Parent questions about Armenia schools

Can Armenian citizens take Shirakatsy’s Diploma without its national programme?

The school’s published admissions page says the Diploma is offered to Armenian citizens only in conjunction with its national programme. Confirm the combined course and admissions round with Shirakatsy. This school-specific description does not establish the policy of UWC Dilijan or every other provider in Armenia.

Which published intake does UWC Dilijan’s age rule concern?

Its current page concerns August 2027 Grade 11 entry and specifies age 16 or 17 on 1 September 2027. Confirm the relevant selection route and cycle for that intake; the rule should not be copied into another school year or used as a promise of an available place.
