Planning a school search in Bolivia
Checked 15 October 2026. Santa Cruz’s notice names 2027; Alcide-d’Orbigny’s form names 2026 and part of its evaluation timing is undated. La Paz specialty headings were read, but linked May 2025 presentation media were not watched and current combinations require confirmation. French class approval is distinct from a school’s double-award description or an individual offer.
Match the city, class and southern calendar
Lycée franco-bolivien Alcide-d’Orbigny is in Achumani, La Paz; its AEFE record gives Avenida República de Francia between calles 10 and 11. Lycée français de Santa Cruz is listed at the fourth ring and Domingo Banegas in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. These are distinct city collections rather than interchangeable locations for a French education. Ask the receiving school to identify the actual classroom, daily arrival arrangements and the child’s proposed French class before planning the household’s routine.
The current AEFE tables list both schools from Petite Section through Terminale as homologated, with CNED marked no, and identify a southern school calendar. That supports a class-specific French-programme comparison; it is not an automatic placement decision for a pupil arriving from another country. Request the receiving academic year, term dates and class mapping. A transfer timed around a northern-calendar summer may fall at a different point in these schools’ teaching year, so discuss completed units as well as the class name.

Separate French programme approval from the offered award
Santa Cruz’s own website describes a French and Bolivian double-baccalaureate route and multilingual learning involving French, Spanish, English and Portuguese. Ask which languages are taught in the proposed class, which serve as teaching languages, and how the two award requirements are fulfilled for the child. The school’s double-award description and AEFE’s French class approval answer different questions. Neither establishes every applicant’s eligibility for both awards or how a university will assess a particular diploma.
Alcide-d’Orbigny’s specialty page names mathematics, physics-chemistry, life and earth sciences, economics and social sciences, humanities-literature-philosophy, and history-geography-geopolitics-political sciences. This gives a concrete starting point for a senior conversation. Some linked presentation media sit in May 2025 storage paths and were not watched; request the actual receiving cohort’s specialty combinations rather than treating every heading as a guaranteed current timetable. For a pupil entering Première or Terminale, compare prior subjects with the offered continuation plan.

Use the intake notice for its stated year
Santa Cruz’s applications page currently advertises the 2027 school year. It distinguishes the application file from a subsequent school decision and describes documents such as prior reports for relevant primary or secondary applicants, together with school-specific references. Ask which forms apply to the pupil’s class and intended 2027 start. An open applications notice does not confirm an available place, a preferred specialty combination or a completed enrolment.
Alcide-d’Orbigny’s new-student page instead identifies an admission form for 2026 and describes interview and pre-application steps, including a primary observation period before a decision. Its January/February evaluation wording lacks an equally clear year label, so it should not become a newly inferred 2027 deadline. Contact the receiving phase with recent reports and language information, request the correct year’s process, and ask how any observation or assessment informs placement. Compare a complete current quotation separately from the programme and application conversation.

Parent questions about Bolivia schools
Does AEFE approval prove a pupil receives both French and Bolivian awards?
No. The AEFE tables identify French programme approval by class. Santa Cruz separately describes a double-baccalaureate route. Ask the school which award requirements apply to the pupil, how both are completed and what documentation is issued. Do not turn a school’s route description into a universal country-level diploma or university-entry rule.

Are both schools advertising the same next intake year?
Their reviewed notices differ: Santa Cruz explicitly advertises applications for 2027, while Alcide-d’Orbigny’s page labels its form 2026. Both AEFE records identify southern calendars. Confirm the intended school year, receiving class and current assessment timetable directly rather than carrying an older form or undated deadline into the next intake.
