Country & territory guide

Compare schools across Panama.

Compare the selected Panama City and San Miguelito school collections by senior award, earlier programme and actual teaching site. AP courses at Balboa, British study followed by IB at King's, the MET's IB continuum and ISP's separate diploma requirements give different ways to plan a transfer. An IB label alone does not identify every child's full school sequence.

Planning a school search in Panama

Compare AP study with a full IB senior programme

Balboa's current AP page describes individual advanced subjects and AP examinations in high school. Compare those course choices with the full IB Diploma structure rather than treating an AP result as a complete school-graduation award. Ask which classes are actually taught for the intended cohort, which examinations are available and how they fit the school's graduation requirements. Published AP recognition language does not settle an individual university-credit decision.

King's College Panama's FAQ describes English National Curriculum study through Year 11 and IB in Years 12–13, with Cambridge IGCSE examinations at the end of secondary study. A British school name therefore does not imply A levels in its senior phase. Request the child's exact subject sequence, language preparation and assessed-work plan, especially if the transfer would occur during IGCSE or Diploma study.

Separate an IB continuum from optional senior credentials

The MET describes a continuum beginning in preschool and ending with the IB Diploma in Grades 11–12. That earlier programme sequence is a different comparison from simply adding IB courses in high school. For a younger applicant, ask about the actual division's approach and learning support; for a senior applicant, ask how previous courses fit the Diploma plan. The school's superlatives and exclusivity claims are not used to rank these selected options.

ISP's current high-school page distinguishes its ISP and MEDUCA graduation diplomas from additional IB Diploma, IB certificates and Innovation and Entrepreneurship credentials. It says graduation-credit requirements can vary with the point of admission. Ask the San Miguelito team to review transcripts and identify which requirements the offered plan meets. Full IB, individual certificates and school graduation should remain separately named rather than combined into one implied award.

Use the actual collection and course commitment

ISP's published curriculum page places its campus in Cerro Viento, San Miguelito. Use that destination collection alongside Panama City, rather than treating every Panama-branded school as the same locality. The country comparison helps narrow educational routes; then confirm the current teaching site for the joining division and school year. For siblings, compare both the younger curriculum and the next senior transition before committing to one household plan.

King's FAQ describes a usual one-year minimum enrolment and two full academic years for its IGCSE and IB courses. Treat that as the named school's published guidance, not a Panama-wide transfer restriction. Confirm the intended joining point and any course-specific exception directly. Compare written intended-year quotations with examinations, transport and additional language or learning support separated, and ask the next institution to assess the precise award and subjects required for further study.

Parent questions about Panama schools

Does a British school in Panama necessarily end with A levels?

King's published route ends secondary study with Cambridge IGCSE and offers IB in Years 12–13. Balboa's AP study and ISP's optional senior credentials are different comparisons. Confirm the specific campus's offered award rather than inferring it from British, American or international branding.

Is taking IB courses at ISP the same as completing its full Diploma?

ISP separately names the IB Diploma, IB certificates and its school-graduation requirements. Have the receiving team identify the actual plan and how completed credits count. Individual IB courses, a full IB Diploma and the ISP/MEDUCA diplomas answer different graduation questions.
