Country & territory guide

Compare schools across French Polynesia.

Compare the selected French Polynesia destinations by island, final school phase and actual qualification. Papeete, Punaauia, Taravao, Uturoa, Atuona and Rikitea offer different collège, lycée and vocational choices. A shared operator or French label does not establish a complete nursery-to-baccalaureate sequence, and post-school BTS courses should remain separate from a child's school-phase comparison.

Planning a school search in French Polynesia

Taravao's operator text uses differing maintenance-course labels; confirm the current qualification. Saint-Joseph's page includes a 2020–21 admissions image, so old illustrated application details are not treated as current. No named-school CNED provision is inferred.

Sainte-Anne's operator page in Atuona describes general classes from Sixième through Seconde. Saint-Raphaël in Rikitea describes Sixième through Troisième, plus a separately named Polynesian arts-and-crafts certificate in engraving. These are different phase endpoints. A family planning the next year should ask which receiving institution and award follow, rather than infer Première and Terminale from the word collège or from the operator's wider network.

Anne-Marie Javouhey's Uturoa page distinguishes its central secondary campus from the Tonoi primary site. It names technological STI2D and vocational MELEC study. Keep the selected secondary-campus enquiry tied to the intended class and course, with the credential and current specialism explicitly identified. A shared institutional name or an advertised specialist option should not be used to combine primary and secondary pupils at one teaching address.

Compare Tahiti's general, technological and vocational routes

La Mennais' Papeete operator record distinguishes collège, general lycée study and technological STMG, STL and STI2D routes. Saint-Joseph in Punaauia describes lower-secondary agricultural provision, general/technological entry and CAP, vocational baccalaureate and STI2D choices. Compare the actual course's entry phase, taught subjects and award. The word lycée does not make every programme a general baccalaureate or establish the same specialist classes at both institutions.

Taravao's Sacré-Cœur page describes schooling from Sixième through Terminale and separately lists vocational baccalaureate and CAP provision. Its broad narrative and specialist list use different maintenance-course labels, so request the current course name and qualification for the intended intake. Confirm the exact division, teaching site and any residential arrangement separately. A network's boarding or foyer description does not itself decide an individual pupil's accommodation or school offer.

Separate school completion, BTS and distance study

La Mennais and Saint-Joseph also list BTS courses under higher education. Onisep describes BTS as study after the baccalaureate, generally over two years. Keep those post-school programmes outside the collège/lycée phase comparison, even when taught at the same institution. Ask the provider about the exact qualification and prerequisites; a BTS listing should not be treated as an extra school year available to every secondary applicant.

CNED's lycée overview separately offers full-class or individual-subject distance study from Seconde through Terminale. If that arrangement is proposed, identify the enrolment, supervision, teaching and assessment responsibilities in writing; no CNED offer is inferred for any named school here. Compare the child's actual island, phase and onward institution before making a move. Request current course and language requirements, campus directions and intended-year financial and residential terms from the receiving provider.

Parent questions about French Polynesia schools

Does Sainte-Anne in Atuona establish the whole lycée sequence?

Its operator explicitly describes Sixième through Seconde. Ask about the separate next institution and intended Première/Terminale route rather than extending that published phase map. Rikitea's general collège description ends at Troisième, providing a different transition point.

Are BTS and CNED listings interchangeable with on-campus school classes?

No. Onisep places BTS after the baccalaureate; the two named Tahiti providers list it under higher education. CNED describes distance full-class or subject study. Identify the actual school phase, credential and delivery arrangement separately; neither a shared site nor a French programme name establishes one course.
