Compare schools across Trinidad and Tobago.

Compare the selected Westmoorings and Petit Valley schools in Trinidad through their middle programme, school diploma and senior delivery. ISPS describes primary and middle IB before a US/AP graduation plan; Maple Leaf follows Ontario study. These are different award structures, and older credit descriptions need a cohort-specific review before a transfer.

Planning a school search in Trinidad and Tobago

Maple Leaf's handbook filename refers to March 2025; its credit wording differs from Ontario's exact official indexed cohort summary. Authority-page direct retrieval failed. Confirm the pupil's actual current graduation plan with the school.

Keep middle IB separate from the senior graduation route

International School of Port of Spain (ISPS) labels PYP from Pre-Kindergarten 3 through Grade 5, then MYP in Grades 6–10. Its middle-school page explains that Grades 6–8 cover the first three MYP years, with the final two in high school. Starting high school therefore does not automatically mean the middle programme has finished, and its general IB World School label should not become an IB Diploma offer.

ISPS separately describes a US High School Diploma in Grades 9–12, with AP and AP Capstone opportunities. Maple Leaf International School describes Ontario curriculum from Kindergarten through Grade 12, with elementary study through Grade 8 and an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) route. Compare the child's actual receiving phase, completed subjects and planned final award rather than treat American and Canadian labels as interchangeable senior credentials.

Compare course teaching, examination commitments and credits

ISPS says most AP courses are taught by its own teachers and some through Wisconsin Virtual School. Pupils enrolled in an AP course are required by the school to take its May examination. Confirm each subject's delivery, support and examination registration before choosing the timetable. AP Capstone is an additional programme choice, while the ISPS diploma has its own course and credit requirements; an AP subject alone does not complete either award.

At Maple Leaf, request an evaluation against the actual Ontario graduation plan. The handbook linked under a March 2025 filename describes academic credits, literacy, community involvement and online study. Those components involve more than selecting senior examination subjects. Ask how incoming coursework is assessed, which requirements remain and how the intended completion date is supported. Have any receiving college or university check the precise diploma and subject levels it needs rather than assume automatic credit recognition.

Resolve older credit wording before accepting a subject plan

Maple Leaf's handbook states 18 compulsory and 12 optional credits, then describes a nineteenth compulsory technology credit for pupils entering Grade 9 from 2024. Ontario's official indexed parent summary instead distinguishes an older 18/12 balance from a 17/13 balance for entry from September 2024. Direct authority-page access failed. These descriptions need a current, school-specific explanation; do not use the older handbook count as every pupil's confirmed graduation requirement.

Send the original Grade 9 entry year, transcript and previous course descriptions to Maple Leaf so its team can identify the applicable cohort and any additional conditions. ISPS gives 1 International Drive in Westmoorings; Maple Leaf identifies Alyce Glen in Petit Valley. Confirm the offered division's attendance and current timetable at the actual site. Request joining-year terms for examinations, learning support, transport and any virtual course, keeping those costs separate from the academic requirements and from a guarantee of admission.

Parent questions about Trinidad and Tobago schools

Does finishing ISPS MYP mean the child earns an IB Diploma?

ISPS describes MYP through Grade 10 and separately identifies a US school diploma, AP and AP Capstone in high school. Ask which actual school and additional awards the proposed senior plan meets. Primary/middle IB authorisation does not establish a senior Diploma route.

Is Maple Leaf's older nineteenth-credit wording a confirmed current rule?

Its March 2025-named handbook and Ontario's indexed entry-cohort summary give different compulsory-credit wording. Ask Maple Leaf for the applicable joining-year graduation audit using the pupil's original Grade 9 entry year. The older document and a general authority summary should not become an individual overseas pupil's final plan without that review.
