Country & territory guide
Compare schools across Kosovo.
Kosovo's selected American School of Kosova (ASK) and QSI International School of Kosovo profiles share an American-style description but differ in phase labels, English-entry conditions and senior planning. ASK identifies Shkabaj; QSI identifies Veternik in Pristina. Compare the child's completed studies and actual receiving class before using a US grade label as a complete placement decision.

Planning a school search in Kosovo
QSI's admissions page retains a 2021–22 early-childhood availability paragraph; ASK's discount deadline concerns 1 July 2026. Confirm the current programme and terms rather than reuse either past notice.
Identify Shkabaj or Veternik and the actual receiving class
ASK's FAQ places its campus in Shkabaj, Prishtina. Its overview separates preschool from Kindergarten, Elementary Grades 1–5, Middle Grades 6–8 and High School Grades 9–12. QSI publishes its address at Mehmet Gjevori Street in Veternik, Pristina, and describes preschool through secondary education. Use the named site and receiving division for visits and request the child's actual daily attendance arrangements.
QSI's admissions page uses age-class and Secondary I–IV terminology rather than relying on standard American grade names. It describes normal placement using age before 1 November, with documented exceptions and achievement-based mathematics or literacy groups. Its early-childhood paragraph still references the 2021–22 two-year-old offer. Confirm the current preschool programme and assessment rather than carry that old availability statement into a new intake.

Compare curriculum standards with the proposed senior course plan
ASK says its K–12 curriculum draws on AERO, Common Core and California standards adapted to its English-language learning community and local requirements. Its separately described preschool should not acquire those K–12 standards by association. Ask how the proposed grade's subject and language teaching fit the pupil's prior school record, particularly where the previous calendar or national curriculum differs.
QSI's secondary page presents its course list as examples of scope and sequence, says provision changes with enrolment needs and identifies further options through QSI Virtual School. The list includes AP subjects, but it does not settle which course is currently taught locally. Request the actual delivered timetable, examination arrangements, remaining QSI graduation work and recognition requirements for the intended university. ASK's FAQ likewise says universities may have additional requirements.

Check the school's English lane and the whole intended-year cost
ASK's FAQ says prior English is not required through Grade 4, with increasingly stronger English expected from Grade 5 and an entrance examination for new High School applicants. QSI's admissions page accepts pupils without previous English through its 13-year-old class, while secondary applicants need assessed language proficiency and may require additional study time. These named-school conditions are different; send reports and support needs for an individual decision.
ASK's fee page is explicitly 2026/2027. It separates annual elementary-to-high-school tuition from monthly younger provision, mandatory Grades 1–12 uniforms and different meal arrangements. Its early-registration discount refers to 1 July 2026, now past. Request the applicable current contract and transport or other chosen charges. Obtain QSI's own complete quotation and graduation plan rather than use ASK's payment periods or services for both schools.

Parent questions about Kosovo schools
Do ASK and QSI require the same prior English for a middle-years transfer?
No. ASK's FAQ distinguishes Grade 4 and below from Grade 5 upward; QSI's admissions page allows entry without prior English through its 13-year-old class. Both need an individual placement discussion. The different age and grade labels should not become one country-wide English-entry rule.

Does QSI's published AP list establish a current on-campus course?
No. Its secondary page calls the list an example, allows changes with enrolment needs and identifies QSI Virtual School options. Ask which subject is delivered locally or online, its assessment arrangements and how it fits the actual graduation plan before choosing a senior transfer.
