Choosing a school in Algiers

This Algiers collection includes American International School of Algiers, British Campus Algeria and British School Algiers. The two British names identify separate providers and locations. Start with the campus and current receiving phase, then examine the route beyond it: an all-through description, a future expansion and a dated regulation document establish different kinds of evidence.

This guide accompanies 3 included profiles. It is a selected collection; confirm places and current charges with each school.

British School Algiers’ detailed phase and examination guidance comes from regulations dated 1 September 2024, directly read again on 15 October 2026. AISA’s Grades 11–12 remain a described future expansion, without a confirmed opening date here.

Match the school name to its actual Algiers location

AISA identifies its campus in Ben Aknoun at 05 bis Chemin Mackley. British Campus publishes a Birkhadem address, Lot Gigot, property 2266, section 01. British School Algiers gives 89 rue Mohamed Boulouh, Gué de Constantine. Check the provider’s own contact details before arranging a visit; an enquiry intended for one British school should not be sent on the assumption that the other is another division of it.

Use the offered class and campus entrance to assess the daily journey, then request arrival, collection and transport arrangements. A location comparison is particularly useful where a family is considering both the American and British routes. This guide does not assign travel times or presume a transport service is included. Ask for a dated offer and complete compulsory-charge breakdown for the same school year before comparing costs.

Distinguish a current endpoint from a planned senior phase

AISA’s current application page describes Pre-K through Grade 10, with Grades 11–12 to be added gradually. Its welcome message describes the fall 2026 expansion to Grades 9–10, and its curriculum page identifies AERO and Common Core within its American framework. A pupil approaching the end of Grade 10 needs a written next-year plan; the expansion language does not confirm an operating Grade 12 or an available graduation pathway.

British Campus describes EYFS and an English/Pearson curriculum leading to IGCSE and A levels. British School Algiers’ regulations, dated 1 September 2024, distinguish primary Reception–Year 4, middle Years 5–8 and senior Years 9–13, with IGCSE and Sixth Form A-level study. Use that dated description to frame questions about the current examination sequence and offered subjects. It should not establish every 2026–27 option or examination sitting without confirmation.

Bring previous-year evidence to the placement discussion

AISA’s application page uses age on 1 September alongside reports, previous learning and assessment in its placement process. British Campus publishes a 31 August age reference, but says the last successfully completed year takes priority over age; it also describes English and mathematics assessment and an interview. These are different school processes. Bring recent reports and the subjects studied, rather than expect one birthday rule to apply across Algiers.

For an older pupil, ask which language and subject assessment will be used and whether entry would interrupt a multi-year examination course. British School Algiers’ dated regulations also describe phase-specific learning and senior subject choices, with offerings able to vary by year. Request the policy and course list for the intended intake. Previous enrolment in an English-medium school does not, on its own, confirm placement, support or an available place at another provider.

Parent questions about Algiers schools

Does AISA currently publish an operating Grade 12?

No. Its application page currently identifies Pre-K through Grade 10 and says Grades 11–12 will be added gradually. Ask for the intended-year senior plan, courses and completion route before relying on a future expansion. That wording does not confirm a present Grade 12 place.

Does British Campus’s age table settle transfer placement?

No. Its admissions page says the last successfully completed year takes priority over age and describes assessment and an interview. Submit the pupil’s actual learning record and confirm the receiving year. This is British Campus’s process, not a common placement rule for the other selected Algiers schools.
