Choosing a school in Tirana

Compare the selected Tirana campuses by the middle programme, senior award and actual course delivery. Albanian College's US-style credit option is distinct from its IB sequence; Tirana International School separates onsite AP from virtual subjects; World Academy publishes specific MYP and Diploma grades. The proposed teaching site and transcript plan matter as much as the international label.

This guide accompanies 3 included profiles. It is a selected collection; confirm places and current charges with each school.

Use the actual Tirana campus and receiving phase

Albanian College Tirana 1 (ACT) publishes its Dritan Hoxha 18 contact. Tirana International School (TIS) identifies Mullet, Petrelë, while World Academy of Tirana (WAT) gives Rruga e Rezervave in Lundër. Use those offered teaching sites when arranging visits and the daily attendance plan; a common Tirana collection or school-group name does not make the locations interchangeable or establish a travel time.

ACT's page names PYP, MYP and Diploma, alongside a separate US-style credit programme from Grades 6–12. WAT's general page identifies its own three IB programmes, while its specific pages map MYP in Grades 6–10 and Diploma in Grades 11–12. Ask about the actual younger division and proposed middle sequence. The generic explanation of four IB programmes on a website should not become a local Career-related Programme offer.

Compare onsite AP, virtual study and complete awards

TIS describes AP for its Secondary II–IV pupils and distinguishes onsite teaching from QVS, QSI's virtual-school options. Request the actual delivery of each proposed subject, including timetable, teacher contact and any external online arrangements. A combined published list is not proof that every course is taught in a classroom at Mullet. Compare that subject plan with ACT's separately described US-style credit route rather than assume American terminology identifies the same diploma.

The TIS AP page also distinguishes AP Capstone from its QSI Academic Diploma with Honors, which has its own requirements. Its separate IB page describes Diploma during Secondary III–IV. WAT instead uses Grades 11–12 for its named senior programme. Have the receiving school identify the full graduation credential, additional international award and subject levels; do not convert school labels or an extra research award into an automatic national diploma or university-credit outcome.

Review unfinished coursework and individual placement

TIS's Diploma entry page names earlier Secondary I–II coursework and makes specific allowances for some remaining fine-art or language units to be completed alongside senior study. Ask admissions to review the child's transcript and identify exactly what remains, rather than assume every prerequisite has the same completion rule. WAT's Diploma description separately emphasises strong English for participation; the offered subjects and language support still need an individual school discussion.

TIS accepts applications throughout the year subject to space and requests records in English or official translation, with school readiness or MAP assessment helping initial placement. Those are its own procedures, not an Albanian rule for every international applicant. Send reports, course outlines and assessed work to the actual campus, and request current joining-year financial terms with examinations, support, transport and virtual subjects separated. Before choosing an offer, have the next institution assess the precise qualification, subjects and completion date the pupil intends to achieve.

Parent questions about Tirana schools

Are all AP subjects on the TIS list taught onsite?

Its page distinguishes onsite courses from QVS virtual options. Ask the school to identify the delivery of each proposed subject, timetable and teacher support. AP Capstone and the QSI Honors diploma also have separate requirements; a combined menu should not become a guaranteed classroom offer.

Does ACT's US-style programme mean the same qualification as IB?

ACT describes the credit-based Grades 6–12 route separately from its IB sequence. Request the actual graduation document and subject plan. Compare those with WAT's named Grade 11–12 Diploma and TIS's own senior requirements, without assuming automatic equivalence between the school labels.
