Country & territory guide
Compare schools across Switzerland.
Compare the selected Switzerland school collections by canton, actual campus and intended leaving qualification. Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne and Zuoz offer different combinations of language, day-school geography and senior pathways. Use this country guide to choose the city collections worth investigating, then check the individual school and programme for your child’s entry year.
36 included profiles · 29 destination collections · 6 dated tuition schedules
This is a selected directory, with different levels of evidence in each collection. Open the named campus profile to check its curriculum phases, review date and sources before contacting admissions.
Planning a school search in Switzerland
EDK’s relevant responsibility text was reviewed through its official indexed page because direct retrieval omitted the explanatory body. Zuoz’s source remains explicitly a 2025–26 profile; confirm current cohort arrangements. Original catalogue identities and source-check dates are retained.
Choose a canton and campus before a school label
Switzerland requires a local comparison. EDK’s official guidance places the main responsibility for education with the cantons, while describing shared federal and cantonal responsibilities after compulsory education. A school’s international curriculum and the applicable cantonal education arrangements answer different questions. Ask which authority supervises the intended provision and which qualification the child would actually complete; an English-language school name does not answer either question.
The selected Zurich collection includes ICS in Zumikon. Geneva English School has its primary address in Genthod and secondary address in Versoix. Lausanne’s Brillantmont and the Zuoz collection are separate options. For siblings, map each division before evaluating a household move, and request the current daily arrival, collection and transport arrangements for that campus.

Compare senior qualifications and the route into them
ICS publishes the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes. Geneva English School instead describes GCSE/IGCSE study in Years 10–11 followed by A levels in its senior years. These are useful alternatives for a family deciding whether to continue an existing examination sequence or change to the IB. Ask about the child’s current subjects, assessment records and language support at the proposed phase, rather than treating a curriculum badge as a placement decision.
Brillantmont’s Lausanne senior page offers a British A-level route or a High School Diploma from Grade 11. Its diploma description uses credits earned through high-school study; that differs from simply taking individual externally examined subjects. Compare the actual award, subject timetable and assessment requirements with the intended next school or university. In particular, request confirmation that a proposed combination of courses remains available for the entry cohort, without assuming that a broad recognition statement guarantees admission or university credit.

Treat Zuoz’s language and award choices separately
Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz’s published 2025–26 school profile distinguishes the Swiss Matura section from its English-language international section. It describes Matura teaching in German or bilingual combinations, and an international sequence leading to IGCSE study before the IB Diploma or the school’s High School Diploma. The profile also explains that not every student studying the IGCSE curriculum sits those examinations. A course name, an examination entry and a completed qualification therefore need separate confirmation.
That profile is dated evidence, freshly read for this guide, rather than a new promise about every future intake. Request a current phase map and subject list before comparing Zuoz with the day-school options around Zurich or Geneva. Where residential provision forms part of a shortlist, obtain the actual term-time, weekend and holiday arrangements alongside the academic offer. Keep tuition, residential charges and any language-support costs in a school-specific written quotation rather than a country-wide budget estimate.
Curriculum pathways recorded across the collection
Each row combines evidence from several profiles. Its phases may be offered at different schools; it does not mean every school provides every phase. Online delivery is listed separately. Open the school profile for its exact route and eligibility.

Parent questions about Switzerland schools
Does a Swiss international-school listing imply the Swiss Matura?
No. The selected examples include IB programmes, A levels, school diplomas and a separately described Matura route at Zuoz. Confirm the exact award, teaching language and current requirements for the relevant section; the school’s location in Switzerland alone does not identify its leaving qualification.

Can siblings at Geneva English School be assumed to use one campus?
The school publishes distinct primary and secondary addresses in Genthod and Versoix. Check the division assigned to each child and the current transport plan before deciding where to live. The Geneva collection is a search starting point, while the actual campus determines the daily journey.
