Planning a school search in the Netherlands
Compare senior award choices rather than school branding
The British School in the Netherlands publishes A-level, IB Diploma, IB Career-related and BTEC pathways. Its Sixth Form page distinguishes campus-specific booklets, including Voorschoten’s A-level/BTEC and IB information. Ask which pathway and subjects are actually offered at the selected Senior School Voorschoten campus. The group’s menu is a starting point for the discussion, not proof that every campus has an identical timetable or entry requirement.
American School of The Hague describes a US High School Diploma with additional AP or full IB Diploma choices. Compare that school graduation plan with Voorschoten’s senior routes, keeping individual AP examinations separate from the full IB award. Ask how prior coursework, required subjects and the proposed examination sequence fit the applicant’s goals. The school’s broad university-recognition statements should not be treated as a guaranteed admission or transfer-credit result.

Use actual locations and middle-years content
Voorschoten is a separate school collection destination from The Hague. The school’s specific contact page identifies Senior School Voorschoten, so obtain the correct division’s address and daily arrangements before judging a family commute. The Hague collection also contains separate ASH and International School of The Hague profiles. Do not let a common metropolitan label turn those institutions into one provider or one admissions process.
International School of Amsterdam’s MYP page identifies its Sportlaan address in Amstelveen and describes a Grade 10 Personal Project, language courses and differentiated mathematics options. For a middle-years transfer, compare completed coursework and the proposed language or mathematics group with a British examination sequence. The Amsterdam brand does not place that campus in central Amsterdam. Ask about the actual offered programme and classroom support, particularly when the child’s previous teaching language differs.

Resolve the school’s applicant category before comparing fees
International School of The Hague publishes eligibility conditions for its state-subsidised Dutch International School setting. These include categories involving a parent’s limited-duration employment, Dutch pupils returning from overseas schooling and a planned family work transfer abroad. Have its admissions team check the applicable category and supporting documents. This school-specific evidence should not be converted into a universal passport or overseas-schooling requirement for every Netherlands international school.
Once the relevant admissions category is established, request an individual phase and subject plan, current joining date and assessment requirements. A parent’s qualifying category does not establish an available place or a suitable senior course combination. Compare dated written quotations, including tuition, transport, examinations and additional support, and ask how the provider issues transcripts for the next institution. Keep residence and immigration documentation separate from academic acceptance; a school offer alone does not determine those outcomes.

Does every Dutch international school use the same eligibility categories?
Do not apply ISH’s published subsidised-school categories to every provider. Ask the named institution which admission conditions and evidence apply to the family. Curriculum suitability, eligibility, place availability and placement remain separate checks.
Is American School of The Hague limited to one American senior pathway?
Its published high-school programme combines a US school diploma with AP or IB Diploma choices. Compare the exact additional qualification and required subjects rather than inferring an AP-only or IB-only offer from the school’s name.
