Country & territory guide

Compare schools across Uruguay.

Compare the selected Montevideo and Punta del Este school collections by the actual national and international course plan. IGCSE preparation, MYP, A levels, full IB and school diplomas are different choices. A bilingual or British name does not establish the same senior award, calendar or requirements for every pupil in Uruguay.

This is a selected directory, with different levels of evidence in each collection. Open the named campus profile to check its curriculum phases, review date and sources before contacting admissions.

Planning a school search in Uruguay

Compare Montevideo's middle and senior sequences

The British Schools' secondary page describes Uruguayan national study alongside an international sequence, with Cambridge IGCSE preparation before the IB Diploma. St Brendan's MYP page instead places PAI from Grade 7 through 1° EMS. Compare the child's completed learning with the actual next phase: an IGCSE course and an MYP year should not be treated as identical assessment simply because both precede senior study.

St Brendan's current homepage separately identifies primary PEP, middle PAI and senior IB Diploma/POP programmes. Ask which senior route and associated coursework would appear in the offer, rather than assuming every entrant completes the same IB award. For siblings, identify the actual division and teaching location as well as the programme. The school's continuum description does not guarantee identical provision or available places across every age group.

Keep A levels, school diplomas and the calendar distinct

Woodlands' senior-high description combines Uruguay's national programme with Cambridge International AS and A levels. That provides a different advanced-study comparison from the full IB structure. Its earlier international language certifications should not be used to infer an A-level school curriculum in every younger class. Ask which senior subjects are taught for the intended year and how the pupil's previous courses meet the proposed graduation plan.

UAS describes up to three distinct awards: a US high-school diploma, Uruguayan Bachillerato and IB Diploma. The words up to matter; request the precise requirements and credentials attached to the child's plan. Its own page states an August-to-June school calendar. Compare that named-school schedule with the intended receiving programme before planning a move, since a calendar mismatch can affect assessed work, course entry and the time available to complete a senior sequence.

Use Punta del Este as an actual educational comparison

International College's operator page identifies Punta del Este and a sequence combining the Uruguayan National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma. It offers a useful geographic alternative to the selected Montevideo examples, rather than another name for a Montevideo campus. Use the actual destination collection and ask the receiving division to explain how national coursework and international examinations fit together in the proposed offer.

Compare a senior shortlist by actual award, subjects, teaching language and completion date, then have the next institution check its requirements for that precise qualification. Send reports and assessed-work records to admissions before relying on a simple Grade-to-Year conversion. Obtain current campus directions, application arrangements and written financial terms, separating tuition, examinations, transport and extra support. The selected collection does not supply a national placement rule or guarantee a combined diploma, university credit or an available place.

Parent questions about Uruguay schools

Does every selected Uruguay school use MYP before senior IB?

The British Schools describes IGCSE preparation before IB, while St Brendan's explicitly maps its MYP/PAI from Grade 7 to 1° EMS. International College's operator also describes IGCSE in its sequence. Confirm the offered phase and assessment route rather than inferring MYP from a senior IB programme.

Does UAS's IB option mean every pupil receives three diplomas?

UAS says pupils can obtain up to three awards, naming US, Uruguayan and IB diplomas. Ask which requirements the individual plan satisfies and which credentials the pupil is pursuing. Its school-specific description is not an automatic triple-award outcome or a national rule for other providers.
