Choosing a school in Alexandria

Alexandria's IBSA and Schutz enquiries involve different campus locations and different senior evidence. IBSA publishes British teaching pages through Key Stage 3, while its later fee rows need to be reconciled with the overview's coming-soon labels. Schutz publishes American-school high-school options, including AP and Global Impact study, with a separate school graduation and credit discussion.

This guide accompanies 2 included profiles. It is a selected collection; confirm places and current charges with each school.

IBSA's overview and 2026–27 fee rows give different upper-phase signals. Schutz's grade-equivalence table was not readable as text, although its August 30 cutoff was. Confirm the actual class and course provision; new fee amounts are not republished.

Distinguish the Abees campus from Schutz Street

IBSA's contact page gives Agricultural Road, 500 metres past Abees Gate, Alexandria. Schutz's Early Years page gives 51 Schutz Street. Use those physical locations and request the child's actual gate, receiving division and transport arrangement when arranging visits. A city-wide search or school postal box should not decide the daily journey or a sibling's collection point.

IBSA's overview says it shares its campus with Molière within the International Schools of Egypt group, but identifies different English and French programmes. Specify IBSA when enquiring about the selected British school rather than import the neighbouring French curriculum. Schutz's Early Years page describes a programme for children aged 2–6; that learning-stage description still needs the school's grade-specific birthday and readiness review.

Resolve upper-course evidence before choosing examinations

IBSA describes an adapted British curriculum with Egyptian Ministry subjects and publishes an active Key Stage 3 teaching page. Its overview still marks Key Stages 4 and 5 as coming soon, while its 2026–27 fee table contains Years 10–13. A tuition row alone cannot identify an operating IGCSE or A-level cohort. Request the actual taught year, examining board, offered subjects and examination session in writing.

Schutz's published handbook separately identifies high-school AP courses, internships and a Global Impact Diploma programme. It also describes approved Global Online Academy study for Grades 9–12, with possible Schutz credit recorded under school graduation requirements. Ask how the child's proposed courses satisfy the school diploma and any additional programme. An AP exam, online course or programme title does not automatically complete every graduation requirement.

Check the birthday table and individual course approval

Schutz's grade-age page identifies 30 August as its cutoff, but its grade-equivalence table is not readable as text in the inspected page. Request the actual intended-year row using the child's birth date. The Early Years age range should not be substituted for that class decision, nor should another school's British year labels be transferred directly into Schutz grades.

For older pupils, Schutz's handbook makes online course credit subject to school approval and successful completion. Send the transcript, completed syllabus and current learning-support records before selecting a course combination. At IBSA, confirm the required local-context subjects and intended senior provision alongside the offered class. Obtain a complete dated quotation from either school; IBSA's published table is 2026–27 and does not establish later-year prices or every compulsory additional charge.

Parent questions about Alexandria schools

Does an IBSA Year 13 fee row confirm an operating A-level programme?

The 2026–27 fee table lists Year 13, but the overview still describes Key Stage 5 as coming soon. The two pages need school clarification. Ask for the actual operating cohort, examining board and subjects for the intended year; neither infer an available A-level route nor conclude that none exists from that mismatch alone.

Can a Schutz online course automatically replace a graduation requirement?

Its handbook says Grades 9–12 pupils may apply for approved Global Online Academy courses and may earn Schutz credit after successful completion under school graduation requirements. Ask the school to approve the actual course and credit allocation before enrolment; a general online-course listing is not the pupil's completed graduation plan.

Using the Alexandria collection

Alexandria combines a Mediterranean port economy with petrochemical production, linking the city to shipping, industrial engineering and international trade. For expatriate engineering specialists and commercial or logistics managers relocating with children, comparing international and private schools can help maintain an education pathway across borders, while Egyptian families also consider the programmes that support future study.
