Choosing a school in Regensburg

The Regensburg collection includes Domspatzen, Pindl’s Gymnasium and SIS Regensburg. Their school names do not establish the same primary provision, language preparation or senior route. Compare the documented division and subject branch first, then discuss musical or language readiness with the named school. The ministry’s published school-year records and the schools’ current admissions descriptions have different evidence periods.

This guide accompanies 3 included profiles. It is a selected collection; confirm places and current charges with each school.

The ministry’s inspected records retain a 2025–26 heading. Domspatzen’s admissions page and FAQ give different normal late-entry classes; confirm the intended-year procedure before relying on either description.

Distinguish adjacent primary provision from the selected Gymnasium

The Bavarian ministry records Domspatzen’s Gymnasium at Reichsstraße 22 and its separate primary division at Reichsstraße 24. It places Pindl’s selected Gymnasium at Dr.-Johann-Maier-Straße 2 and SIS’s divisions at Klosterackerweg 1. Use the actual receiving division when arranging a visit; a school group name should not bring other Pindl divisions into this selected profile.

The inspected ministry records are headed 2025–26. They document primary Classes 1–4 for Domspatzen and SIS, and Gymnasium Classes 5–13 for the selected secondary routes. At Pindl, the science/technology branches are described as fully established, while the language branches have incomplete class coverage. Ask which branch and class actually operate for the intended intake rather than treating every branch name as an available starting point.

Compare music, bilingual teaching and the additional senior award

Domspatzen’s ministry record identifies music and science/technology Gymnasium branches. Its current admissions page also requires musical and vocal suitability, assessed through singing, alongside the relevant Gymnasium requirements and German readiness. It explicitly welcomes boys and girls. Discuss the actual singing and study routine; choosing the science branch does not remove the school’s published musical-entry consideration.

SIS’s current Gymnasium page describes the Bavarian curriculum with German and English teaching, French from Class 6 and Spanish from Class 8. It offers Abitur preparation with an optional additional IB Diploma programme in Classes 12–13, also identified in the IB register. These are separately sourced school choices: the Swiss brand does not mean a Swiss national diploma, and optional IB study does not make every younger class an IB programme.

Resolve late entry and the actual care arrangement

Domspatzen’s admissions page describes start-year entry in Classes 5–12 and possible exceptional entry in Class 13 or mid-year. Its FAQ instead gives Classes 5–11, with Class 12 or mid-year entry exceptional. Ask which description applies to the intended transfer and send the existing subjects and reports. The FAQ also distinguishes primary day provision from boarding, saying primary pupils do not have boarding places.

SIS’s academic-offer page says bilingualism is not a prerequisite for joining, while describing teaching in both German and English. That broad statement still needs a receiving-class assessment and a support discussion. Compare the actual course plan and care model, then request an itemised intended-year quote covering tuition, meals, transport, music or language support and any residential arrangements relevant to the pupil.

These are the pathways recorded for each included campus. Online provision appears separately. A senior qualification does not establish provision in younger years.

Parent questions about Regensburg schools

Can a pupil join Domspatzen Class 12 through the normal process?

The current pages differ: the admissions page includes Class 12 in start-year entry, while the FAQ treats that class as exceptional. Request the in-force procedure and a review of the pupil’s completed courses before planning a senior transfer.

Does SIS Regensburg’s name establish a Swiss qualification?

Its Gymnasium page describes the Bavarian curriculum and Abitur, with optional additional IB Diploma study in Classes 12–13. The IB register identifies that diploma programme. Compare those named routes and the pupil’s language preparation rather than infer a qualification from the brand.
