Regional school guide

Compare schools across South America.

Use a South America search to compare the actual teaching language, local qualification and international option at a named campus. Selected examples in Santiago, São Paulo, Lima and Tigre demonstrate different combinations. A school offering an American or British approach may also have national requirements, so the proposed award and phase should remain explicit throughout a transfer discussion.

72 included profiles · 49 destination collections · 12 countries and territories · 0 dated tuition schedules

This is a selected directory, with different levels of evidence in each collection. Open the named campus profile to check its curriculum phases, review date and sources before contacting admissions.

Planning a school search in South America

Separate the school diploma from optional national and IB awards

Nido de Águilas in Santiago publishes its own diploma requirements and options to earn an IB Diploma, a Chilean National Diploma, or both in addition. Graded in São Paulo describes an American high-school diploma and optional IB and Brazilian diplomas. Its graduation page separately lists Brazilian programme requirements, including Portuguese and Brazilian Social Studies. Neither school's international description means that every pupil automatically earns every available award.

Markham's San Antonio campus in Lima publishes IGCSE study followed by a Sixth Form choice of IB Diploma or the Peruvian National Programme. Northlands' Nordelta authoriser record identifies PYP and Diploma provision. Begin a senior comparison with completed courses and the intended next education step, then ask how the receiving institution's national and international requirements fit that student's plan. Do not assume a shared South American exit qualification.

Match language preparation to the correct teaching campus

Graded describes English-medium teaching; Northlands' primary page describes English-Spanish bilingual learning within PYP. Ask how a transfer enters language, mathematics and inquiry work at the offered phase. The time needed to access academic English or a bilingual classroom is different from simply attending conversation lessons. Obtain the school’s assessment and support advice rather than assuming the same language policy across these destinations.

Markham separates Monterrico early years and primary from San Antonio middle school, secondary and Sixth Form. The selected San Antonio profile should therefore lead to an enquiry about its older phases, not an assumption that primary pupils attend Miraflores. Nido identifies its Lo Barnechea campus; Northlands' Diploma coordinator record identifies Avenida de los Colegios in Tigre. Use the exact receiving site for housing, travel and sibling arrangements.

Resolve transfer feasibility before comparing bills

Nido's published admissions guidance makes a continuing Diploma transfer dependent on available courses and compatibility with its timetable. It also distinguishes language-support placement from eligibility for its full Diploma route. These are Nido's school-specific criteria, not Chilean or continental rules. Ask the receiving team to confirm the child's actual pathway and support before accepting an offer.

Send subject outlines, reports and completed assessment records to each shortlisted school. Request its joining date and calendar, especially when previous and receiving examination sequences differ. Obtain a dated quotation identifying the billing currency and separating tuition, enrolment, examinations, transport and language or learning support. Ask about transcript provision and the requirements of the intended next institution. A bilingual brand, group connection or familiar diploma name does not guarantee admission, continuation or recognition of every completed course.

Parent questions about South America schools

Will a pupil automatically earn a national diploma at an international school?

Confirm the individual's route. Nido publishes optional Chilean and IB awards alongside its school diploma; Graded publishes separate requirements for American, Brazilian and IB pathways. Ask which national study and language requirements apply to the proposed award.

Does Markham's San Antonio profile cover its younger primary campus?

Its current campus page locates early years and primary at Monterrico, while San Antonio serves middle school, secondary and Sixth Form. Direct the enquiry to the correct division and teaching site; a school-wide curriculum label does not move those phases into San Antonio.
